The Overcast is a relatively new speculative fiction podcast based in Portland, OR, and so far the quality of the production has been superb.
In the beginning of Episode 4, editor and narrator J.S. Arquin talks about his love-hate relationship with flash fiction. Interestingly enough, you could say I have a love-hate relationship with audio fiction, in the sense that I enjoy it very much when done well, and experience acute second-hand embarrassment whenever it's done badly. Luckily, Arquin does it very well. His narration is calm, precise, just the right amount of expressive – neither monotone nor theatrical. The Overcast is a pleasure to listen to, and it's thrilling to have my story in its ranks.
